Controlling the spread of COVID-19

Many of us believe we can never get this virus, think again! When you leave your house daily think of the following

1. Where you are going

2. Who are you likely to meet

3. Do I have my mask, sanitizer, tissues or handkerchiefs?

4. Am I following the social distance rule?

5. Are there any vulnerable people in my circle/buble?

6. Do I really need to go out?

7. How about the people/family I leave home? Did I make sure I sanitize my hands, discard of my mask or wash my hands when I came back inside?

Practicing these steps can surely reduce the spread of COVID-19.

How important is honesty and trust when building a relationship?

Very very essential as these are the basis in which all human relationships evolves. If a relationship lacks trust it reduces the ability for your partner to have faith in you and the relationship. We often speak of the notion that honesty is the best policy and that the truth shall set us free. But in reality a number of us are not great at practicing it. Honesty is a key component of a successful relationship and allows us as individuals to focus on reality and not fantasy. Before we can be totally honest in our relationships we need to be true to who we are as a person with regards to our intentions in the relationship we are about to form. We should focus on the following to enable us to build a honest and trusting relationship.

1. Differentiate oneself from outside influences such as the culture of others, society , or the fact that your family doesn’t agree with the choice you make.

2. Don’t get in the habit of telling your partner what they want to hear about you, say what your requirements are of them. Ensure your actions are speaking volumes and that you are doing things based on how you feel and always act with integrity.

3. Be sincere and mindful of the way you react to things, allow yourself to be vulnerable in the relationship by expressing what you are thinking and feeling. Sometimes a soft word creates closeness and intimacy, be willing to listen and see things from the perspective of your partner.

4. It is vital that as individuals in a relationship we accept criticisms because if we don’t we are encouraging lies in the future. When your partner is comfortable in opening up it allows honesty to build and helps the relationship to mature and develop.

5. Remember we are individuals in a relationship and there will be times when we will see things from different perspectives. So therefore support each other for who they are because this is what gives life meaning. As individuals we are resilient human beings, let your partner know if you are feeling insecure or afraid about anything. Live in reality and face the truth as it presents itself. Remember that honesty and trust within a relationship allows each other to feel secure and offers joy and excitement of being in a truthful relationship, one in which was formed on who we are and not who others want us to be.
